Symphonic Band offers Scottish concert

Under the direction of Dr. Stuart Benkert, UTC Director of Bands, the UTC Symphonic Band will be performing the first in a series of multicultural based programs on Friday, February 17. The City of Chattanooga Pipes and Drums will be opening the event in full regalia with an informative and historic performance at 8 p.m., Roland Hayes Concert Hall, Fine Arts Center. The Symphonic Band will then play selections based on Scottish Folk Songs and Program music.

"Loch Ness" depicts tourists visit to the historic lake, an encounter with a tempest, bagpipes and a majestic castle. Another piece will combine the pipes and the Symphonic band in a selection written for the Naval Academy Band and Pipes.
