Saxophone/piano concert January 30

The Odyssey Duo, comprised of Connie Frigo, saxophone, and Rebecca Grausam, piano, will offer a recital Monday, January 30, at 7:30 p.m. in Roland Hayes Concert Hall. The program will include works by Karel Husa, John Corigliano and William Albright. There is no admission charge for this concert.

On Tuesday, January 31, Frigo will teach a saxophone master class at 1:40 p.m., also in Roland Hayes Concert Hall. The public is invited.

Frigo is Assistant Professor of Woodwinds at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. In addition to her new appointment as the saxophone professor at UTK, Frigo is also the baritone saxophonist and recording artist with the New Century Saxophone Quartet, the only ensemble of its kind to ever win the coveted First Prize of the Concert Artists Guild Competition in New York.

Frigo's eclectic performing and teaching career includes six years with the premier U.S. Navy Band, Washington D.C., a Fulbright Grant to the Netherlands to study with world-class saxophonist Arno Bornkamp, faculty positions at Ithaca College and the University of South Carolina, and two prizes at the prestigious Fischoff International Chamber Music Competition.

Together with pianist Rebecca Grausam, the Odyssey Duo formed in 2003 and maintains an active concert schedule.
