Seniors to Surf Thanks to Molavi

UTC nursing students currently taking community health recently identified an area of need within a community agency at the Boynton Terrace site of Senior Neighbors. The director, Angela McBride, is trying to establish a computer class for the clients.

Through the efforts of Gerry Molavi, assistant professor of nursing, two printers were secured for the senior citizens.

"Several clients have expressed interest in learning to send e-mail to grandchildren and to 'surf the net' for news and health information. The center had two computers, but no printer," Molavi says.

Molavi has taken the donated printers to McBride. A phone line must still be installed for the project to be complete, and Molavi says that task is the responsibility of the Housing Authority.

Molavi is also encouraging UTC faculty to send students to the center, where the students can do projects in computer instruction or web design.
