Irish Journalist to Speak at UTC

As part of a book-signing tour of the southeast, Northern Ireland journalist Billy Kennedy will be at UTC on Wednesday, October 18. His talk will focus on journalism in Northern Ireland.

A journalist in Northern Ireland for thirty years, Kennedy was a news editor for eighteen years. He currently works as a full-time freelance journalist, author, and lecturer. At numerous universities, museums, and historical society meetings throughout the U.S., he has delivered over fifty lectures on the Scots-Irish diaspora in America.

Kennedy's newest publication is Heroes of the Scots-Irish in America. It is the sixth book in a highly popular series of works on Scots-Irish immigrants to the United States. The first book in the series is entitled The Scots-Irish in the Hills of Tennessee, published in 1995.

Kennedy's appearance at UTC is being sponsored by the English and Communication Departments and Speakers and Special Events and is open to the public.
