Comprehensive UTC brand guidelines will go live in early February 2022. In the meantime, this page offers a general but very limited selection of branding information. For questions, please contact any of the Creative Services team.
- University Logos
The UTC logo combines two elements: the Power C and the wordmark which spells out "The University of Tennessee CHATTANOOGA" in Goudy Old Style. The lettering is consistent with other university logos of the UT System. The UTC logo is available in horizontal and stacked versions—both may be used as a primary identifier for UTC.
This primary identifier is only one element of the overall visual identity for UTC. Our mission, values, messaging, colors, typefaces and other assets enable all of us to speak with a consistent and unified voice.
- Department Logos
Request UTC department and unit logo suites from the Creative Services team. Use of these logos for commercial purposes is strictly prohibited except by vendors approved to do so. Commercial uses include reproduction of logos for sale or distribution, reproduction of logos to promote or endorse the sale of products and promotion or endorsement of an enterprise or business.
All marketing materials must have a clear connection to UTC through proper branding. Alternative graphic treatments must be used in conjunction with an official University or departmental logo and cannot appear on stationery packages including letterhead, envelopes and business cards.
Full UTC logo and official UTC Athletics logos are the only graphics approved to represent the University. Official University logs are required on all publications and should appear prominently. The design or use of any other logo representing the University is prohibited. The use of any graphic treatment representing UTC departments or programs is prohibited except when used in conjunction with the official UTC logo.
Department Logo Suites
Department logo suites include horizontal and stacked versions of the following, for print and for digital applications, in a variety of file formats:
EPS: scalable to any size and have no background; used for professional printing on promotional items, banners, silkscreening and embroidery; preferred by most vendors; vector-based
JPG: for web use, electronic presentations; desktop publishing; JPG files do not scale up well, so take care when enlarging; raster-based
PNG: used almost exclusively on the web and in electronic presentations; raster-based
PDF: can be viewed and opened by most operating systems and sometimes are requested by vendors; may be vector- or raster-based
Logo suites contain files in these color options, provided in appropriate color mode:
Full-color: use on a light background
Full-color (inverted): use on a dark background
One-color (black): use on a light background
Reverse (white): use on a dark background
Special Use Logos
If your logo is too detailed to read well on a promotional item or your need does not permit the use of proper branding, contact Creative Services Director Stephen Rumbaugh at [email protected] or 423-425-1555 to find a possible solution. Most branding issues can be resolved fairly quickly and easily.
