Wolday D. Abrha is a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Engineering Management & Technology Department at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC). Before he joined UTC, he has been a Graduate Research Assistant at the Center for Advanced Systems Research and Education, Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville (UTK), where he is pursuing his Ph.D. (anticipated completion in fall 2017) in Industrial Engineering, with a minor in Statistics. He earned his MS in Engineering Technology from Middle Tennessee State University, and BS in Industrial Engineering from Mekelle University, Ethiopia.
Besides to his teaching, research, and consulting service experiences in academia, he has about 6 years of industry experience, mainly in the automotive manufacturing (supplier quality assurance) and cement production (supplier quality assurance and maintenance functions) sectors. He is certified in Six Sigma Green Belt and in Lean Manufacturing.
His teaching and research interests and expertise are in the areas of Lean Systems, Six Sigma and Engineering Statistics, Agile Manufacturing, Systems Modeling and Simulation, Optimization, and Supply Chain Management. Currently, he is serving as a reviewer for the RedFame’s Studies in Engineering and Technology Journal and is a member of the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineering (IISE).
