Wright-Bentley Scholars 2007-2008

The Wright-Bentley Scholarship is awarded to students that have demonstrated strong academic skills and service to the community and university. Selected students have proven themselves to be highly motivated, intellectually strong and civic-minded.

Christina ChavezChristina Chavez

B.S. Business Administration: Finance
B.S. Economics

Christina served as President of the Economics Club and Communications Secretary of Beta Alpha Psi. Christina is a member of the University Honors Program and Habitat for Humanity. She studied abroad in Buenos Aires, Argentina to practice her Spanish and gain cultural insight about South America. Christina interned with SunTrust Bank in Chattanooga and in SunTrust’s corporate offices in Atlanta. She was chosen by the Chancellor to represent UTC in the 2007-2008 Presidential Fellows program in Washington, DC. 

Christina graduated in May 2009 and works for Dell Computers in Austin, Texas.


Amber GruberAmber Gruber

B.S. Business Administration: Management 

Amber was a Resident Assistant for UTC Place apartments. During the summer she interned at a marketing firm, and now works at Sticky Fingers restaurant to help pay for her schooling. Amber is a volunteer at St. Catherine’s Women’s Shelter. She enjoys camping, backpacking, racquetball, and playing the piano.

After graduation, Amber aspires to obtain a management position in an already established business. She enjoys people and, as a manager, hopes to motivate a team of employees to be successful.


Zachary FErrellZachary Ferrell

B.S. Business Administration: Management

Zach is captain of the UTC Men’s basketball team. He is Co-President of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee and President for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He is a counselor and campus representative for Kids Across America Christian sports camps. He has conducted several basketball camps for children including one at Bethel Bible Village and Cornerstone Baptist Church. He volunteers for GLAD which is an after school tutoring program for children. He has also volunteered his time at the Make-A-Wish Foundation, the Chambliss Children's home, Orange Grove Center, and participated in the Susan G. Komen Race for a cure.

After graduation, Zach would like to work for a nonprofit organization that benefits children.


Jeffrey NastoffJeffrey Nastoff

B.S. Business Administration: Finance
B.S. Business Administration: Entrepreneurship

Jeff is the Scholarship Chair of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity and treasurer of the Golden Key Honor Society. He works as an intern at Merrill Lynch and at the help desk at the UTC Library. He earned his Eagle Scout in 2003. He enjoys reading, traveling, hiking, and anything that involves spending time outdoors. Jeff spent half of his junior year studying in Glasgow, Scotland.

After graduation, Jeff plans to find a job as a junior financial analyst and take the Level I Chartered Financial Analyst Exam.


Jack ShearerJack Shearer 

B.S. Business Administration: Accounting 

Jack is a member of Beta Alpha Psi, the accounting honors society. He is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving in Iraq, and was promoted four times. Jack spent a year teaching urban warfare skills to 200-300 marines weekly. This training was solely dedicated to savings lives in Iraq and Afghanistan. He was awarded the Naval Achievement Medal. He has been accepted into Ernst & Young’s internship program.

After graduation, Jack plans to enroll in the Master of Accountancy program at UTC and take the CPA certification exam.

Kendra TeffetellerKendra Teffeteller

B.S. Business Administration: Accounting 

Kendra is active in a number of organizations on campus, including Beta Alpha Psi, Alpha Delta Pi sorority, and the University Honors Program. She works as a student assistant in the management department of the College of Business. Kendra also participates in intramural sports and volunteers for the Ronald McDonald House. Her hobbies include wakeboarding, running, and playing the piano. She also has an interest in travel and has visited 11 different countries. 

After graduation, Kendra plans to enroll in graduate school to obtain a Master’s of Business Administration. She will take the CPA certification exam and hopes to work for one of the big four public accounting firms.
