Dr. Bento Lobo is the First Tennessee Bank Distinguished Professor of Finance in the
College of Business at The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga where he teaches
courses in International Finance and Financial Institutions at the senior undergraduate,
MBA and Executive MBA levels.
He was honored with the "Outstanding Graduate Teacher" award at the University of
Louisiana. Dr. Lobo has a Ph.D. in Financial Economics, Masters degrees in Economics
and in Management Studies, and a B.A. in Economics. In 2010, he received his CFA charter.
Dr. Lobo's research covers theoretical and applied issues in finance and economics
including work in the areas of monetary policy, domestic & international asset valuation,
project analysis and political risk. In 2009, he was a visiting scholar at the Federal
Reserve Bank of Atlanta. His research has been published in reputed academic journals
and presented at numerous domestic and international conferences. In 2013, he was
inducted into UTC's Council of Scholars, the university's highest recognition for
those who research, publish, and have national and international reputations in their
fields. Dr. Lobo is also extensively involved in consulting. Prior to academia, Dr.
Lobo worked in investment banking in India and Singapore.
Dr. Lobo lives in Chattanooga with his wife and two sons.
