Lisa A. Burke-Smalley is the Guerry Professor of Management at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC) and holds a Ph.D. in Human Resources/Organizational Behavior from Indiana University Kelley School of Business. Lisa is a prior recipient of the UTC Professor of the Year, teaching undergraduate, MBA, and executive education courses in the College of Business. Lisa's research focuses on management training, education and development and she has published more than 85 academic journal articles, 15 book chapters, and edited her own book on management training. Lisa recently served as Associate Editor for the prestigious Academy of Management Learning & Education Journal. 
 
Lisa was awarded in 2014 the UTC College of Business Teaching Award, a UTC Think-Achieve Award in 2013 for using experiential learning methods in the classroom, and was nominated for the National Society of Collegiate Scholars' 2012 "Inspire Integrity Award". Lisa earned the "2005 HR Educator of the Year Award" in the Southwestern United States, is a prior recipient of the "Professional Trainer of the Year Award" (from North Louisiana ASTD), and is a member of "Who's Who Among America's Teachers". A former student also anonymously created a recurring national scholarship in Lisa's name through the National SHRM Foundation, which is awarded each year to a deserving student in the U.S.
 
As a globally recognized management training & education scholar, Lisa won the 2015 College of Business Research Award and was inducted into the UTC Council of Scholars, the university's highest recognition for those who research, publish, and have national and international reputations in their field. Lisa's research has had a global impact, with Google Scholar stats of h-index=28 and i10 index=43. Her research has appeared in quality peer-reviewed journals such as Human Resource Development Quarterly, Human Resource Management, Academy of Management Learning and Education, Human Resource Management Review, Organizational Dynamics, HR Advisor: Legal and Practical Guidance, Journal of Human Resource Costing and Accounting, and Employee Rights & Responsibilities Journal. Lisa has also presented her research internationally (e.g., University of Surrey, England), and earned several national reviewer and service awards (e.g., AMLE).
 
Over the last few years, Lisa has been a frequently-invited keynote speaker for various organizations including the UT System HR Conference, Mid-south SHRM Conference, Chattanooga Better Business Bureau, Chattanooga Women's Leadership Institute, the iLead program, Southeast TN Association of HR, Chattanooga Area Society of Healthcare HR Administrators, Institute of Internal Auditors, Institute of Management Accountants, Project Management Institute (UT Space Institute), and the North American Young Generation in Nuclear.
