Welcome from Dean Dooley

Robert Dooley, Dean of the UTC College of Business

Welcome to the Gary W. Rollins College of Business at UTC.

Whether you are a prospective student, alumnus, business partner, or friend of the Rollins College of Business, I encourage you to explore our web site to learn more about what we have to offer.

The past year has been eventful for the college. Perhaps most significant is the ground breaking of the new Joseph F. Decosimo Student Success Center on the second floor of Fletcher Hall.  The second floor is undergoing a complete renovation that will provide state-of-the art facilities for academic advising and career and professional development services. The space incorporates collaborative work areas for students, student team rooms, company interview rooms, and an expanded student lounge area. This much-needed renovation that is funded entirely by external support reflects our culture that focuses on student success and embodies our mission of developing students that are “academically prepared and business world ready.”

The hallmark of the college has always been its outstanding faculty who apply theory to real-world problems through research and teaching. Our faculty are helping businesses and industries solve complex problems ranging from the impact and economic benefits of high-speed fiber networks to the detection of brain trauma in athletes. They are also delivering curriculum that gives our students unique experiential learning opportunities such as the SMILE Fund, a student managed investment portfolio, and two pitch competitions that give students the opportunity to launch an entrepreneurial venture.

We have also worked to make our programs more accessible for working adults. The online Professional MBA program is taught exclusively by Rollins College of Business faculty in a flexible asynchronous learning environment. New specialized graduate certificate programs in Human Resources and Business Analytics are available online or on campus and are designed to give working professionals expanded expertise and enhance professional skills. The Executive Education Leadership Program, developed with support and guidance from regional businesses and experts in leadership, is designed for professionals who are positioned to take on significant strategic leadership roles in their organization.

Key international partnerships have extended learning opportunities beyond the college. Faculty have lead study abroad programs to Mexico, Germany,  Vienna, Brazil, China, and Vietnam. These enhanced programs promote global business understanding and intercultural competencies that are so important in business today. The college also hosts visiting faculty from international universities who bring their international expertise, experiences and perspectives to our students and faculty.

This is an exciting time for the university and the college and I am extremely enthusiastic about the future. We have an extraordinary faculty and staff that are academically and professionally preparing our students and serving the business community. I am proud to serve as dean and invite you to become involved and to learn more about the Rollins College of Business.
