  • Don't be afraid to ask for help, whether its academic, personal, or relationship related.
  • Keep in touch with family and friends to deter loneliness.
  • Set goals for yourself to stay motivated, but don't expect yourself to be perfect all of the time.
  • Try to go with the flow. Things change quickly, it takes time to meet people and find your way around.
  • Recognize signs of stress (i.e. fatigue, irritability, fast heart rate) and take breaks from activities when you need to.

  • Wash your hands frequently.
  • Don’t go to class if you’re sick and avoid friends who are ill.
  • Keep immunizations up to date, including your annual flu shot.
  • Try simple over the counter remedies to reduce symptoms of illness and go see a health care provider if you're not feeling better.
  • Drink lots of fluids, but don't share beverages with others.
