In addition, the course prepares you for the Certified Bookkeeper™ certification, a national certification that gives you increased market value and credibility.

Participants who are interested in the Accounting and Bookkeeping Fundamentals course do not need to complete a FAFSA nor be officially admitted to the University.

There are no course prerequisites for this course. However, accounting and bookkeeping experience will be beneficial.

The course is noncredit and no academic credit will be awarded.

About Certification

Individuals who complete Accounting and Bookkeeping Fundamentals will be prepared to take the Certified Bookkeeper Certification Exam.

The Certified Bookkeeper™ is a certification managed by the American Institute of Professional Bookkeeper.

Individuals must meet three requirements to become a Certified Bookkeeper:

Requirement #1: Pass the 4-part national certification Exam

Requirement #2: Have 2 years’ on-the-job experience as a bookkeeper. This can be completed after passing the national certification exam.

Requirement #3: Sign a Code of Ethics.
