The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga invites high school students both within and outside Chattanooga area to apply for the second Interdisciplinary Mathematics (I-Math) Summer Day Camp, to be held on the UTC campus July 2017.
About the Program
This one-week day camp is designed to give high school students early exposure to more advanced mathematics and its applications in various scientific fields, through an informal and fun learning environment. The camp, led by UTC faculty from the departments of mathematics, biology, and computer science, will enhance each student’s college-readiness and stimulate their scientific and mathematical experience as they learn from university professors and work on projects with groups of peers
This event is supported by a grant from the National Science Foundation. As such, registration is free for successful applicants, and lunch and refreshments will be provided daily at no charge. Due to the limited space, interested students are encouraged to apply on line as early as possible. Selection of campers will be based on students' interest, academic performance, geographical diversity, available funds, and other program needs. Students outside the Chattanooga area are especially welcome, provided that they have parents or legal guardians who are responsible for their own lodging and transportation. Partial travel and lodging support (up to $800 per camper) will be offered to students coming from outside the Chattanooga area. All applicants will be notified by Email regarding their application status.
Please note, to engage more students, this year's camp is only open to those who did not participate in the first I-Math Camp held July 2016.
