Joseph Paddenburg

Joseph Paddenburg graduated from Clemson University in 1993 with a BA in Secondary Education – History.  After a semester of substitute work, he was hired to teach in the Opportunity School in Danville, Va.  It was a program of last resort for many students, and Paddenburg was the social studies department, teaching every subject offered.  After a few years, he transferred over to the main school, George Washington High School where he taught mostly World History, Geography, and Government.  In 2001, Paddenburg and his wife moved to Greenville, SC. He began teaching at Southside High School, focusing on Government/Economics, World Geography, and World History.  AP World History was added to his resume in 2006, and he have been teaching it to mainly freshmen ever since.  Upon reading that College Board needed readers to score exams, Paddenburg put in his application and was hired for the 2010 read in Ft. Collins, Colorado and has attended every year since then.  In the spring of 2015, he piloted the AP Insight for World History and was invited to become a consultant.  That fall, Paddenburg was asked to serve on a consultant team for all of AP World History.   He is happily married to his wife, Michelle for 23 years, and they have 3 kids- 15, 14, and 9 – and 1 spoiled rescue pup.
