UTC Parking Services will be immobilizing vehicles that have $50 or more in outstanding
parking citations. This will begin during the 2017 summer semester and will be fully
implemented in the 2017 fall semester. If your vehicle is immobilized, you will have
to pay the full account balance, plus a $20 immobilization fee, before the immobilization
device is removed from your vehicle. Vehicle immobilization will be in accordance
with TN APA 1720-2-3.
Vehicle immobilization is a tool that is used to discourage repeat parking violations at UTC. This facilitates better management of available parking spaces, as well as promotes a safer and more consistent parking environment. Vehicle immobilization will grab the attention of repeat violators, and is designed to discourage the future violation of UTC parking regulations. It will benefit students by discouraging the accumulation of unpaid parking citations and financial holds, which prevent students from registering for classes, getting transcripts, or graduating.
