There are a lot of options for you to interact with the UTC Music Department. Obviously we would love to have you come work toward a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Music. Whether your interest is in becoming a music teacher or a performer, we have a degree program that will help you work toward that goal. The links in our side navigation for the Music Major and Minor, and Undergraduate and Graduate Degree programs will give you more specific information regarding enrollment and course of study, as well as the options that exist here for those degrees.
We also welcome those who are at UTC in other disciplines but who want to continue playing or singing, individually or in an ensemble. We even offer some small scholarships in the form of performance grants to students who are willing to be in one of our ensembles. For more information, please see our Awards and Scholarships pages. You can find out more about the band, the choirs and opera using the links from our side navigation. If you are more interested in small groups, we offer ensembles for flute, clarinet, woodwinds, trumpet, horn, brass, percussion, strings, and piano. Contact any of the faculty members who teach those instruments and they will point you in the right direction to join one of those groups.
For those of you who are not yet in college or are long-since out of college, Cadek Conservatory has options for you. Would like to take some lessons on an instrument you played before, or perhaps start a brand new instrument? Cadek offers lessons in a variety of instruments as well as Kindermusik and Suzuki programs through the Center for Professional Education Department. They share some faculty and facilities with the Music Department but are an independent unit under the directorship of Dr. Anne Lassiter.
Last, but certainly not least, for those who just want to hear some music, the Music Department offers around 80 concerts during the fall and spring terms, most of which are free. The concerts include performances by our own distinguished faculty, student recitals, ensemble performances, and guest artists. See our calendar of events for upcoming concert information including times, location, and cost, if any.
