INDIVIDUAL RESEARCH REPORT

MPA Capstone Seminar (PS 540)

Professor Bob Swansbrough

Spring 2006

Individual Research Report: Students will develop their capstone research project in consultation with MPA faculty members. The research project consists of two components--a written portion of the grade and a grade for the oral presentation. You should have already discussed the project with a faculty member and have already made some progress in your research.

The oral report (15-20) minutes will be presented to Dr. Swansbrough and classmates, who will represent (depending of the topic) a not-for-profit board of directors, an elected city/county council or the community advisory committee of a governmental agency. The reports must demonstrate knowledge of the topic, awareness of key actors, identify clear policy options (including fiscal and political costs) and recommend specific policy actions. See this Web site's page for Oral Report Tips and the evaluation form for your presentation. Turn in to the instructor a copy (6 up) of your Powerpoint slides.
