News and Announcements

From time to time, we will have news and announcements about the university website. We want to keep everyone in the know and up to date about OU Campus, changes in policy, updates and other important information that will help us maintain a professional presence on the World Wide Web.

UTC Website Update 

The new, mobile friendly and visually engaging website was produced through a 9 month project by a joint partnership between University Relations, the Library, Center for Teaching and Learning and Information Technology working with 300 web editors from all departments using a web content management system from OmniUpdate. The remodeled site went live August 1, 2013.

All editors were trained on the new system and collectively created over 10,000 pages of fresh content, all between March and July. Most departments also have profile pages with pictures of faculty and staff.  Page views on the new site are up, the average visitor is looking at more pages,  and we are seeing 3 times the number of visits from mobile devices compared to last year at the same time.

2013 UTC Web Reboot —March 19, 2013

At a time when advancements in technology and the way society gets its information it in a constant state of flux, we in higher education are challenged to compete for our share of our audience's attention. One of our most powerful and visible marketing tools is our website. 

In the video below, you will learn about the plans for our website conversion into OU Campus, our new content management system, and our new website design. The new content management system will make updating pages much easier and allow departments to keep their content more up-to-date and dynamic.

The Website Reboot is a campus-wide collaborative effort, led by University Relations, Information Technology, and the Walker Teaching Resource Center.
