Storm Hits Campus

On Wednesday evening, a ferocious storm left an estimated $100,000 damage in its wake on the UTC campus, according to Richard Brown, UTC Vice Chancellor of Finance and Operations. No injuries were reported. Rushing water damaged the McKenzie Arena and Hunter Hall, and tree limbs and debris were scattered all over the campus.

The University closed all day Thursday as crews worked to restore power and clear brush, and the campus opened again on Friday.

"The entire University community is grateful for the dedicated work of members of the Facilities Division, Campus Police Department, McKenzie Arena, and Safety and Risk Management staff, allowing the campus to return to normal conditions," according to Brown.
