Engineering Tour Dazzles Hamilton County Officials

Hamilton County Commissioners toured the new UTC Engineering, Math and Computer Science Building recently, observing classes through windows. Dr. Phil Kazemersky, interim dean of the College of Engineering and Computer Science, shared information about the labs and new equipment in the building that allows professors to access the latest technology through podiums in classrooms and auditoriums. Kazemersky also discussed the SimCenter, a multidisciplinary team of teaching and research faculty, research professionals, and students who develop advanced computational simulation and design systems that enable and support designers in the analysis, design and certification of air, land, sea and space systems. Commissioners were interested in the progress of the Ph.D. program in computational engineering, which was recently approved by the UT Board of Trustees, and awaits approval from the Tennessee Higher Education Commission and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
