The Office of the Provost announces the appointment of Dr. J. Ronald Bailey
as Guerry Professor of Engineering and Dean of the College of Engineering and Computer Science.

Bailey is currently F.W. Olin Professor and Dean of the College of Engineering at Florida Institute of Technology. Prior to his current position, he was Dean of the College of Engineering at The University of Texas at Arlington, where he also briefly served as Vice President of the Fort Worth campus.

“Dr. Bailey also has 13 years experience working for IBM in various capacities.
He has an impressive record of publications and funded research throughout his academic career,” Provost John Friedl said.

He earned his Ph.D. from The University, Southampton, England, and bachelor's
and master's degrees from North Carolina State University.

Bailey will assume his responsibilities at UTC on August 16. He replaces Dr. Phil
Kazemersky, who has served as Interim Dean for several years. Under Kazemersky’s leadership, the new Engineering, Math and Computer Science building was completed, and the SimCenter and the Ph.D. program in Computational Engineering were added.
