UTC College of Business Accreditation is extended

During its annual meeting held earlier this month in Montreal, The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB-International) extended for an additional six years the accreditation of all undergraduate and graduate business programs offered by the UTC College of Business Administration.

AACSB-International is the accrediting agency established by Congress to accredit business schools. This accreditation represents the highest standard of achievement for business schools, and in essence, it is the hallmark of excellence in business education.

"AACSB accreditation places UTC’s College of Business in exclusive company. There are about 3,500 business colleges worldwide, but only 482 hold AACSB accreditation. AACSB, in reaffirming our accreditation, shows that our undergraduate and graduate programs have maintained and improved a quality learning environment,” said Dean Richard Casavant.

A two-member AACSB team visited UTC:

  • Dr. Robert Taylor, Dean Emeritus of the College of Business at the University of Louisville and former Chair of AACSB and
  • Timothy Ryan, former dean of the College of Business at the University of New Orleans, and current Chancellor of the University of New Orleans.

AACSB detailed some “exceptionally effective practices” at the UTC College of Business that “demonstrated leadership and high quality continuous improvement in business education.”

The College’s strategic planning process was singled out as exemplary, with the suggestion that it be used as a model for other business schools. The collegial and creative spirit of a strong, productive faculty was also noted, as was the College’s “exceptional” entrepreneurship program.

Finally, AACSB-International praised the College for its community visibility and the support it receives from the community.
