BusinessWeek names UTC in top 100 list

In its second-ever ranking of undergraduate business programs, BusinessWeek magazine has named the UTC undergraduate business program among the top 100 in the nation. It is the first time the program has been included in the list. UTC is the sole Tennessee school represented in the rankings, listed as number 70.

“This is a validation by students, the community, and employers who believe the best of business school education is available right here at UTC,” said Dr. Richard Casavant, Dean of the College of Business. “The college’s accreditation by AACSB International—The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, has moved the college forward.”

The rankings were based on a survey of graduating seniors and a poll of recruiters who were asked to assess the program based on quality of the graduates, curricula and career services, and other measures. Students surveyed by Business Week commended the UTC undergraduate business program in several areas, including:

  • overall preparedness upon graduation to compete in the job market and perform well in the business world;
  • frequent opportunities to meet the alumni network for business connections;
  • assistance in career planning and
  • college connections with the business community to help students enter the job market.

The “Top 50 Undergraduate Business Programs” list appears in the March 19 issue of the publication.
