UTC alumna named Mrs. Georgia 2006
UTC alumna Sherri Brown Goggin will represent the state of Georgia at the Mrs. United States Pageant in Last Vegas July 25-27. A panel of three judges chose Goggin, a UTC marketing major who graduated in 1992, and the wife of Athens obstetrician-gynecologist Tom Goggin. The couple has five children under the age of ten, including a set of triplets.
Four of the couple’s children were born prematurely, which led Goggin to volunteer with the March of Dimes. When the couple’s oldest child, Kate, was two years old, Goggin organized the “Premie Teamie” to participate in WalkAmerica for the March of Dimes. The team raised $500.
This spring, the family was chosen to represent the March of Dimes in its national video promoting WalkAmerica. A film crew from New York spent eight hours video taping the family in Athens. Goggin plans to continue promoting awareness of premature delivery during her year as Mrs. Georgia.
The Mrs. United States Pageant is a spectacular annual event, which began in 1986 to celebrate the achievements of married women throughout the 50 states and U.S. territories.
“I would like to thank my family, friends and my community for their generous support,” said Goggin. “I am honored to represent the married women of our community and the State of Georgia at the Mrs. United States pageant.”Visit Southern Pageants for more information about the Mrs. Georgia pageant.
