Two events to kick off UTC Chancellor’s Challenge
Two rallies will be held Wednesday, September 6 and Thursday, September 9 to kick off the first Chancellor's Challenge, a team event designed by the Department of Health and Human Performance to encourage UTC students, faculty and staff to develop health lifestyles. A cash award and special prize will be awarded to one student and one faculty or staff member for participation.
Students will meet in Maclellan Gymnasium on Wednesday, September 6 from 7-9 p.m. Faculty/Staff will celebrate the Chancellor’s Challenge on Thursday, September 7 from 12 noon-1p.m. in Maclellan Gymnasium.
“UTC employees and students will be encouraged to set personal goals for achieving moderate levels of exercise, to monitor progress toward these goals, and to develop healthier lifestyles that include daily physical activity,” said Dr. Greg Heath, head of the Department of Health and Human Performance. “There will be motivational events throughout the Challenge.”
Teams will earn points for all physical activity and bonus points for participating in special events and activities hosted by the Chancellor's Challenge and other organizations promoting healthy living such as the American Heart Association, Komen Foundation, and the American Diabetes Association.
All participants in the Challenge meeting minimum point requirements are eligible for multiple incentives and awards, inclusive of a $500 cash award from Chancellor Brown and a 32 inch television from the Department of Health and Human Performance for one lucky faculty or staff member and one lucky student. Participants taking part in any of the Bonus Activities listed on the Chancellor’s Challenge web page increase their chances of winning one of these wonderful celebration awards.
