Forum to address violence against women

The UTC Transformation Project provides leadership working with campus and community partners to reduce violence against women, including relationship violence, sexual assault, stalking, and sexual harassment. Services are provided to UTC students, faculty, and staff.

A special forum has been scheduled to educate the campus on services available and to encourage open dialogue and cooperation across the campus. This important meeting will be held Tuesday, November 8 at 5 p.m. in the University Center auditorium.

Chancellor Roger Brown will open the forum. Forum participants will include Sara Peters of the Transformation Project; Dr. Helen Eigenberg, professor and head of criminal justice at UTC; Dr. Nancy Badger, director of the UTC Counseling and Career Planning Center; Valara Sample, UTC Housing; UTC Campus Police Chief Mac McNeely; and Janet Cavett with the Hamilton County Sexual Assault Crisis Center.

“UTC is very fortunate to have a program such as the Transformation Project on our campus. As chancellor, I can think of no more important responsibility than providing a safe and open environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors on our campus. Through its work to promote awareness and provide services, the Transformation Projects helps UTC with that goal,” said Dr. Brown.
