Football season opener set for September 3
Get ready for some fun with your football at Max Finley Stadium, when the Mocs kickoff their season opener on Saturday, September 3 at 6 p.m. against Tennessee Tech.
Come early for the children’s activities at First Tennessee Pavillion, where you will hear the “Southern Thunder” Band play beach music from 3-5:15 p.m., followed by the UTC Band marching onto the field.
Little E, the little King of Rock and Roll will perform, and there will be a fireworks show after the game. September 3 is also Military Appreciation/Youth Football Night.
All military personnel in uniform or with a valid military I.D. on the day of the game only will receive one (1) free general admission ticket. Extra general admission tickets can be purchased for family members for $5 each.
Military personnel will provide a variety of activities, beginning with recruiting booths which will offer thousands of dollars worth of free giveaways. The Navy will be represented with a blimp; the Marines will set up chin-up bars; the Army will have rock climbing for children, and the National Guard will display an educational meth lab. Along with the Medal of Honor Museum display, Vietnam Veterans will present the Tennessee and Georgia wall.
A halftime military ceremony will culminate with a 21-gun salute.
Youth Football/Cheerleader Participant Coupons will be presented at the McKenzie Arena Box office before the day of the game or at any ticket window at Finley on the day of the game for one (1) free youth general admission ticket. Extra general admission tickets can be purchased for family members for $5 each. Children in uniform, but without a coupon will be able to receive the same deal. Children should be between the ages of 5-12. They must be in uniform to receive the discount if they do not have a coupon.
Since The Stadium Corporation board has turned over management of Finley Stadium to Chattanooga Lookouts and BellSouth Park owner Frank Burke, there have been many improvements, including a playing field of new polyethylene turf.
Finley Stadium's Davenport Field has been the home field for the UTC football and soccer teams since 1997.
Chattanooga football tickets are now available for purchase on-line for the first time ever. Internet users can log on to UTC’s official athletics web site, or www.tickettracks.com to place football ticket orders.
Single-game UTC football tickets are
- $18 for reserved chairback seats
- $12 for reserved bleacher seats and
- $10 for a general admission bleacher seat.
Area high school and college students can buy reserved bleacher seats for $6 or a general admission seat for $5. UTC students are admitted free with a valid Mocs identification card.
