Community discussion: MLK

"Citizen King: A Community Discussion About the Life and Philosophy of Martin Luther King, Jr. It doesn't have to be February to talk about MLK" will be held 7:30-9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 29 at The Kingdom Center on the corner of MLK Boulevard and Peeples Street at Olivet Baptist Church.

This event is free and open to the public. It is sponsored by The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga's University Honors Program.

Featured events will include:

  • a video presentation by student interviewers displaying various perspectives on the life and philosophy of Martin Luther King, Jr.
  • keynote speaker, Dora McDonald, the secretary who worked with Dr. King for the last seven years of his life
  • a panel of guest speakers to offer live, contemporary views on nonviolence, violence, and M.L. King
  • a student presentation of a suggested M.L.King nonviolence unit for school-aged children
  • a community discussion intended to engage all participants and audience members in dialogue concerning violence, nonviolence, Martin Luther King, Jr., race, and class issues.
