Educator to speak at UTC on Globalization
With his unique perspective and insight into Eastern Europe’s transition from a soviet-type economy to a market-oriented economy, John R. Lenton will make two presentations on globalization at UTC on Tuesday, September 20. The first presentation will be in 114 Fletcher Hall, 9:30-10:30 a.m.; the second is scheduled in the Raccoon Mountain Room, UTC University Center at 11 a.m.- noon. Seating will be on a first-come basis.
Both presentations are free and open to the public.
After taking early retirement from American Express, where he was a senior Vice-President from 1982 through 1996, Lenton established a Business School at Emanuel University in Oradea, Romania. He serves as the school’s dean. Lenton teaches six courses annually, and is responsible for its administration and course-faculty development.
Prior to his employment with American Express, Lenton worked at Lloyds Bank, Alex Lawrie Factors Limited, and W. R. Grace & Co. In 1974 he earned the MBA with High Distinction from Harvard Business School; before that he graduated from Exeter College in Oxford, England, and the BA in Modern Languages. He speaks fluent Romanian, French , Spanish, German and Swahili.
