Big Changes Are Planned for the UC

When it is finished, you will hardly know the place.

The UTC University Center will change most dramatically as the entire first floor is gutted, eliminating, among other areas, individual meeting rooms. Instead, there will be "one big area, like a shopping mall," according to Vice Chancellor for Student affairs, Richard MacDougall.

This $15 million dollar expansion project begins in May, and it is scheduled for completion in January, 2003.

A 300-seat auditorium will be built for lectures and movie-viewing. A student computer lab and a wellness area are in the plans.
