Substitute Teacher Training Available at UTC

UTC's Teacher Preparation Academy and Hamilton County Schools are again sponsoring substitute teacher training seminars this semester. There will be a choice of two sessions: Thursday, January 25 from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. or Monday, January 29 from 5 p.m.-8p.m. Both seminars will be held at Chattanooga School for the Arts and Sciences (CSAS), 865 E. 3rd St. Parking is available near the school. Report to the school auditorium on the second floor.

The sessions are fun, fast-paced, and taught by Hamilton County veteran teachers. Light refreshments will be served and there will be handouts and door prizes for participants.

Attendance at either seminar will enable the participant to substitute in any Hamilton County School, following completion of the application process. Substitute pay ranges from $42.50 to $53.00/day. Area schools always need subs. Individuals may pick the days of the week and the schools and grade
levels in which they wish to work.

The training sessions are free and open to the public. Anyone who is interested in teaching or thinking about teaching is encouraged to attend. Substitute teaching is a great flexible, part-time job too. Please make a reservation. Sign up on the lists posted on the bulletin board outside Siskin116 or contact Margha Davis at 425-2351 or by e-mail at Margha-Davis@utc.edu.
