UTC's Collins and Waddell Honored

Linda Collins and Dr. Thomas Waddell have been named the 2000 Alumni Outstanding Teacher Award Recipients at UTC.

Collins, associate professor of biological and environmental sciences, in the College of Arts and Sciences, has been with the University since 1979. She earned her MAT in biology at UTC.

Among her academic honors and awards are Collins' election as chair to the College of Arts and Science College Council.

Waddell, a Guerry Professor of chemistry in the College of Arts and Sciences, has been with the University since 1971. He earned the Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry at UCLA.

He is the author of numerous publications and has received many honors and awards, including being named the Student Government Association Outstanding Professor three times.

Outstanding teachers are nominated by their peers and by former and current students. A representative committee on each UT campus selects the winners. The men and women who receive the awards place the education of their students as their highest priority.
