Early Registration for Fall Underway

All faculty members and advisors are being asked to encourage students to register this week before the April 17 deadline.

"Advisors should meet with their advisees this week to help them finalize their plans for fall," said Julius Dodds, director, retention and advisement.

To encourage students to register early, those who register by April 17 will be eligible for a variety of prizes, including general parking passes, tickets to arena events, t-shirts and more. Free Coke, ice cream and squeeze bottles will be available in front of the University Center through Monday, April 20, for all students who register by April 17. Students will be required to show a copy of their summer and/or fall schedule.

"Students really benefit from early registration," emphasized Dodds. "The ones with specific course requirements simply cannot afford to be shut out of their classes. Students who have to work and must arrange classes around their work hours won't have to worry about a conflict if they get their schedules planned ahead of time," he said.

"Last spring, of the more than 8,000 students eligible for early registration, I understand fewer than 3,000 took advantage of the opportunity," said Chancellor Bill Stacy. "We can do better than that. Students who register early have increased chances of getting the classes they desire, and departments can plan staffing and sections of courses when students register early."
