IEC Hosts Dr. Heath, Stanford University Professor
On Tuesday, April 7, the Instructional Excellence Committee will host Shirley Brice Heath, Stanford University Professor and Carnegie Foundation Teaching Fellow at a reception, dinner, and a forum dealing with teaching and communication needs for the next generation. The reception will be at the UTC Faculty Club from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Dinner is from 5:30 until 6:15 p.m. at the University Center with remarks by Dr. Heath following. A panel discussion will then be held from at 6:45 p.m.
On Monday, April 6, 1998, at 5:30 p.m. in the Raccoon Mountain Room of the University Center, Dr. Heath will be the speaker at a joint meeting and reception sponsored by the Chattanooga Council of Teachers of English, the Chattanooga Chapter of Phi Delta Kappa, the Mildred Chapman Chattanooga Area Council of the International Reading Association, and assisted by the UTC Chapter of Kappa Delta Pi. Each of the organizations has a particular interest in the studies and research of Dr. Heath and have worked together to create an opportunity for members to jointly support her visit and hear her comments.
The dinner on April 7 is free to faculty, and guests are welcome. The cost for dinner guests will be $15 per person. To make a reservation, call Sandy Zitkus at 4597.
