V. Gaye Jeffers, Associate Professor of Theatre (M.F.A., University of Alabama), is a director, playwright, scenic designer and producer. She received the 2011 UTC College of Arts and Sciences Outstanding Creative Scholarship Award. Ms. Jeffers teaches courses in directing, theatre history, theory and criticism, and Introduction to Theatre. Austin Peay State University premiered Jeffers’ play Philo (inspired by Sophocles’ Philoctetes) in 2010. UTC Theatre premiered her adaptation of Aristophanes’ Peace in 2008. Professional theatre credits include the Tony Award-winning Goodman Theatre, Chicago Dramatists, National Jewish Theatre, Lifeline Theatre and the Tony Award-winning Victory Gardens Theatre.
