Who is Eligible for a BMOCS Scholarship?

The BMOCS Scholarship is a financial incentive to promote the academic success of students participating in the Black Males Initiative program. The scholarship is not a guaranteed award for being a BMOC.  Scholarship recipients are selected based on the number of points earned by meeting  the following criteria.
 

  • Must have a cumulative grade point average of 2.70 or better;

  • Must be active in BMOCS services and activities;

  • Must complete at least one financial education program yearly; and 

  • Must demonstrate leadership skills and/or volunteering.  

How Do I Apply?

You complete an application to request a BMOCS Scholarship.   Applications are available in our office and on Blackboard a month before the start  of each semester.   This is a one-time  award for the fall or spring semester.               

How Much Money Can I Get?

The scholarship award is $1,000 for the 2014 -15 academic year.                     

How Do I Meet The Financial Education Requirement?

3 Ways to Meet the Financial Education Requirement

  1. Complete 2 SSS financial literacy modules and deliver to our office.  You can download the modules from the SSS Blackboard website.  Modules can also be found in the SSS Resource Library.                        

  2. In a groupattend a workshop provided by SSS addressing financial aid, money management, personal budgeting and more.                        

  3. One-on-One – set up an appointment with SSS Staff for a personal discussion of your financial situation.
