Offering health insurance for students

Once you enter college, there are many decisions to make. One important decision is health insurance.  UNITEDHEALTHCARE Insurance, working with University of Tennessee offers a student-focused health insurance plan that helps protect students. This is an option you may want to consider.

UnitedHealthCare Insurance

The opportunity to purchase student health insurance is now open for annual or fall enrollment for the 2014-2015 year. 
The following conditions apply for students seeking insurance annually or during the fall term:

  • student must be degree-seeking (and)
  • taking six (6) or more undergraduate hours (or)
  • taking three (3) or more graduate hours

Who is Eligible?

All international students are automatically enrolled in this plan on a hard waiver basis. Degree seeking students taking 6 or more undergraduate credit hours or 3 or more graduate credit hours and students participating in a co-op program are eligible to purchase this plan on a voluntary basis. Eligible students who do enroll may also insure their Dependents. Eligible Dependents are the student’s spouse (husband or wife) or Domestic Partner and dependent children under 26 years of age. See the Definitions section of the Brochure for the specific requirements needed to meet Domestic Partner.
