Lisa Wilkes is the mathematics Clinical Instructor for STEM Education. She taught 7th grade math, Algebra I, Algebra II, and Advanced Algebra II & Trigonometry for thirteen years at Chattanooga School for the Arts and Sciences in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She has an undergraduate degree in mathematics from The University of Tennessee (Knoxville) and a masters in secondary mathematics education from UTC. Through her work with varied professional development seminars and workshops, including Texas Instruments’ Teacher Leader Cadre (TI-Nspire), Critical Friends Group (National School Reform Faculty at the Harmony Education Center), and the Teacher Excellence Program in Math and Science, Lisa is devoted to the education profession and improving teacher practice. She emphatically says that math is a verb, you have to do it to get it.
