Michele has worked as a teaching arts administrator, teaching artist, and classroom teacher in the fields of arts education and arts integration for over 25 years. Her passion is cultivating arts-based professional learning programs for Preschool, PK-12 and Pre-service educators and teaching artists as a collaborative, sustainable, and replicable model for delivery in and out of the classroom setting. A participant in the design and implementation of two U.S. Department of Education Arts Education Model Development and Dissemination grant projects (AEMDD 2005-12), Michele has lectured and facilitated trainings on evidence- based best practices in arts integration, literacy, STEM, and ELL at the national, state, and local levels. She applies these best practices to design and facilitate teaching and learning arts-based program models for youth and adults in a variety of learning environments, including in-school, university, and community settings. At SCEA, Michele’s role as Teaching and Learning Through the Arts Program Coordinator assists with the development, implementation, and support of arts education and arts integration programs for the advancement of the greater good and quality of life for Southeast USA communities and beyond!
