Dr. Honerkamp is an archaeologist. Besides teaching the Department's archaeology courses, he teaches introductory courses in cultural anthropology, physical anthropology, Southeastern Indians, and anthropological theory. He has won both the College of Arts and Sciences Outstanding Teaching Award and the UT Alumni Outstanding Teaching Award. Dr. Honerkamp's research interests include the archaeology of historic landscapes, industrial archaeology, and Tennessee prehistory. He serves as Director of our Department's Institute of Archaeology, which carries out sponsored research projects in prehistoric and historical archaeology throughout the Southeast.
