Dr.Medley's major areas: social mobility and poverty within the African American family community. Her major teaching areas are Social Inequality, Race and Ethnic Relations, Marriage and the Family, Criminology, Sociological Theory, and Gender. Dr. Medley has received the "Distinguished Service Award, Mental Health Association of Laurens County, 1999. She also received the Mental Health Association of South Carolina's "Volunteer of the Year" award in 1999.
Dr. Medley is the Director of the Center For Applied Social Research (CASR) and the Community Outreach Center (COPC). Her major responsibilities include the administration of grants and research projects. In addition, the design of research studies, hiring and supervision of personnel, budget management, and general office administration.
