Kathy Goodridge-Purnell was born in West London, England. She is the product of two West Indian Immigrants, who left Barbados, (West Indies) and later arrived on the shores of Southampton, England in the 1950's, eventually settling in Notting Hill, London. In the early 90's, Kathy decided to leave the shores of the UK to pursue professional/academic growth in the United States. She attended two Historically Black Colleges and Universities, where she completed a Bachelors and Masters degree of Social Work. In 2013, she completed her doctoral studies in Education with a specialty in Professional Studies. Kathy is married to Franklin (18 years) and between them have four children...and a very small dog. For the past 10 years (this fall) she has taught at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga's Department of Social Work, where she is currently an Assistant Professor. She loves a good conversation, international foods, spending time with her special friends and family...and a good belly laugh!
