Important Dates for the Fall2014-Spring2015 Academic Year

Aug 1 – UTC Undergraduate Admissions Application is available

The UTC Undergraduate Admissions Application is available at http://www.utc.edu/about/admissions.phpTo receive an admission decision, you must submit the online application, $30 application fee, official high school transcript, and ACT/SAT score.

Aug 15 – UTC Online Scholarship Application is available to all admitted students

Students wanting to apply for scholarships (institutional/first-time freshmen or endowed funds) must complete a separate online scholarship application.  You must be admitted to UTC and have your UTC ID number to be eligible to complete the UTC Online Scholarship Application.  As always, please keep in mind that all scholarships are competitive & funds are limited, so APPLY EARLY.  Check out our How To Apply link for more information.

Nov 1 – Firm Scholarship Offers Begin for First-Time Freshmen Applicants

UTC begins sending firm offers to admitted students who also completed the UTC Online Scholarship Application.  Award notifications for first-time freshmen scholarships (the Chancellor's, Provost’s, & Mocs Scholarships 1) will be sent by U.S. Mail beginning in early November to the permanent address on file with UTC Admissions.  Note - Since the Chattanooga YES is dependent on demonstrated financial need, we will not send offers until late April 2014 to allow students/parents time to file the FAFSA & complete any Financial Aid requirements.

Dec 1 Priority Deadline for Current High School Seniors who will be First-Time Freshmen Applicants

This is the priority application deadline for ALL the first-time freshmen scholarships - the Chancellor's, Provost’s, & Mocs Scholarships as well as the Chattanooga YES 1.  By this date, students must have a completed UTC Admissions file (application, $30 application fee, high school transcript, and ACT/SAT score) THEN must complete/submit the UTC Online Scholarship Application for consideration immediately after receiving notification of acceptance.  Students must have qualifying scores/GPA to UTC Admissions by December 1, 2013 as well 2.

UTC again reviews and sends firm Renewable Scholarship offers to admitted Fall 2014 First-Time Freshmen students who also completed the UTC Online Scholarship Application.

Jan 1 – Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) available for 2014-2015 Academic Year

To be considered for all other types of Federal and State financial aid at UTC, students must complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Early filing of the FAFSA is strongly encouraged as soon as possible after January 1. For more information, please visit the UTC Office of Financial Aid home page.

Feb 1 – FAFSA Priority Deadline

Since funding is limited for UTC’s Chattanooga YES grant, as well as for some State/Federal grants, it is strongly encouraged that the FAFSA be filed on or before this date.

Final deadline to apply for scholarships.

May through July – Endowed Scholarships awarded

The awarding of endowed funds administered by our office occur during this time.  More information about these scholarships is found by choosing the Search UTC Scholarships link.

June 1 Document deadline for New Transfer Students

This is the document deadline for the Transfer Scholarship 3.  By this date, new Transfer Students must have a completed UTC Admissions file (application, $30 application fee, all college final transcripts, high school transcript, and ACT/SAT score) THEN must complete/submit the UTC Online Scholarship Application for consideration immediately after receiving notification of acceptance.

July 1 – New Transfer Students

Early July – Firm Scholarship Offers Begin for New Transfer Applicants

UTC begins sending firm offers to admitted transfer students who met the June 1 document deadline & also completed the UTC Online Scholarship Application by July 1.  Award notifications for the Transfer Scholarship will be sent by U.S. Mail to the permanent address on file with UTC Admissions.

1 UTC scholarship funds are limited and the awarding process is competitive. Meeting the eligibility requirements does not guarantee a student will receive a scholarship. The best way to improve your candidacy is to always submit all required materials as soon as possible.

2 Any first-time freshmen who 1) do not meet this priority deadline or 2) do not meet the eligibility criteria for the Chancellor’s, Provost’s, Mocs, or Chattanooga YES, will be considered for those Endowed scholarship funds administered by the UTC Scholarship Office Committee.  Awarding of these endowed funds will not begin until May 2014.

3 Any new transfer students who complete the online scholarship application by the July 1 final deadline but who 1) do not meet the June 1 document deadline or 2) do not meet the eligibility criteria for the Transfer Scholarship, will be considered for those Endowed scholarship funds administered by the UTC Scholarship Office Committee.  Awarding of these endowed funds will not begin until May 2014.
