Susanne Finch Burgess

Susanne has a wide range of teaching experience in all age groups from newborn to college. She has taught general and choral music in public and private schools, conservatories, and community organizations. Susanne arrived at the Center in the spring of 2000 from Santa Ynez, California, where she was an Orff music specialist, pre-K - 8.
She is a member of the national music honor society Pi Kappa Lambda, and a past president of the Memphis Chapter of the American Orff Schulwerk Association . She is a regional workshop leader of the American Orff Schulwerk Association and has been a national conference presenter for the Orff Schulwerk Association, the National Association for the Education of Young Children, and the Early Childhood Music and Movement Association.
Susanne has an avid love of musical theatre, and has used her musical talents as both a performer and director in this genre for many years. She performed with Canticle, an acappella choir in Santa Barbara, and with Choral Arts of Chattanooga. Susanne is a writer and on-camera workshop leader for an arts education series being developed for the Annenberg/Corporation for Public Broadcasting Channel.
