Arts & Education Forum
THE ROLE OF PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT IN FACILITATING THE PRACTICE OF ARTS INTEGRATION
May 1-3, 2008
Chattanooga, Tennessee
Over one hundred leaders in arts education met at the UTC campus for 2 1/2 days to explore and discuss current practice in arts integration and professional development. Keynote Facilitator Dr. Janet Barrett encouraged participants to think about the features of high-quality professional development and the ways in which a variety of models can embody those features.
We are currently at work preparing the Forum Proceedings, which will be posted to this website. We are also exploring options for a future Forum. If you are interested in serving on the planning committee for the next Forum or would like more information as plans are made, please contact Marissa Nesbit.
What was it all about? The information below was provided to participants prior to the 2008 Forum:
SCEA’s forum will explore and analyze current practice in arts integration, with the goal of refining our work as professional development providers who facilitate its implementation in the field.
Participants will thoughtfully examine introduced professional development models to identify the defining characteristics of research-based professional development. We will engage in discussion, observe and deconstruct model lessons with children and model training sessions with adults, investigate a variety of program models, and collaboratively dialogue to better understand our collective work in arts integration.
Forum registration is now closed. Please contact us to receive a copy of the Forum Proceedings when it is released.
