University-Funded Travel Guidance
The normal approval process for ALL University-funded travel outside the United States includes an assessment by Safety and Risk Management. This screening is part of a long-standing process to protect the University community and was not implemented because of the Ebola outbreak. Please continue to submit your travel requests as you always have. You will receive an email upon approval, reminding you of important travel safety information.
If you are traveling on personal or family business, Safety and Risk Management will be happy to help you get the additional information you need to protect yourself. UTC also asks that anyone who has traveled to, is currently traveling in, or is planning to travel to an affected area contact Student Health Services at 423-425-2266 for guidance and monitoring prior to returning to campus. Please be aware that if you are traveling to a country where Ebola is active, you may face travel restrictions for up to 21-days after your return. The nature of these restrictions will be determined by public health authorities and will be based upon your level of risk. For more information on your risk level, please click here.
No matter where you are traveling, YOU are responsible for your own safety. Always be aware of your surroundings. In addition to the potential for disease, you should also be aware of other risks which may be present during your trip. Find out more about these risks by visiting the U.S. State Department's travel safety webpage.
