The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Department of Public Safety meets its mission through offering the following services and resources:
Lost and Found
The Lost and Found Department is located at 400 Palmetto ST, Chattanooga, TN 37403. Between the hours of 8 AM to 5 PM Monday thru Friday, Students, Faculty, Staff and Visitors are encouraged to inquire about lost or misplaced articles. You may inquire in person or you can phone at 425-4357.
Items turned into Lost and Found are held for a minimum of 60 days.
Special Event Planning
To secure the necessary traffic and crowd control measures, persons or organizations planning activities that involve campus streets or the usage of campus parking lots should work with the Facilities Use Committee. Once approved, the notification of the U.T.C. Police Department will occur at least two weeks in advance. All event coordination that does not go through the Facility Use process must originate a minimum of two weeks prior to the event, this notification process begins here.

The UTC Police Department provides fingerprinting services to faculty, staff and students, where not otherwise provided for program or law. Residence Life, teacher applicants, and other state permits have their own process. Please contact Lieutenant John Boe to schedule and applicants must bring fingerprint card(s) provided to you.
Need a jump start? Locked your keys in your car? Vehicle Assist, offered by the UTC Police Department, is offered to anyone on the UTC campus 24 hours a day 7 days a week. A waiver is required once the officer arrives, and if the vehicle has power locks the Officer will not be able to unlock it for you, but will be able to provide you with a number to call a lock smith if you need one. To request this service, call the Communication Center at 423-425-4357.
The "Rape Aggression Defense.". The Rape Aggression Defense System is a program of realistic, self-defense tactics and techniques. The R.A.D. System is a comprehensive course for women that begins with awareness, prevention, risk reduction and avoidance, while progressing on to basic hands-on defense training.

Blue Light Phones
Emergency Blue Light phones are strategically located throughout the exterior areas of the campus, parking garages and parking lots. Upon pressing the call button, you will be in immediate contact with UTC Police Department. When an emergency phone is activated, an officer will dispatch to the location of the Blue Light phone to investigate.
Safe Ride Service
The UTC Police Department has an available escort service on campus between the hours of 7:00 p.m. - 3:00 a.m. nightly during the academic year. Students, staff and faculty may use this service to address any personal safety concerns by calling (423)425-4357. The escort may or may not be in a vehicle as Campus Security Officers often walk with the caller to a more comfortable location. This is not a taxi service.
