Gwen Carlton, DNP, FNP-BC, AE-C is the Program Coordinator for the Family Nurse Practitioner Program. She graduated with her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree in Family Nursing from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in 2008, with her Master in Nursing degree in the Family Nurse Practitioner from Vanderbilt University in 1993, and with her Bachelor of Science from Belmont University in 1990. She practices clinically at Covenant Allergy and Asthma Care. She is a member of the Tennessee Nurses Association, the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, the American College of Asthma, Allergy, and Immunology, the Chattanooga Area Nurses in Advanced Practice, and was the recipient of the 2006 Allied Health Recognition Award, presented by the American Academy of Asthma, Allergy and Immunotherapy. She is certified the American Nurses Credentialing Center as a Family Nurse Practitioner and by the National Asthma Education Certification Board as an Asthma Educator. Her research interest include asthma, allergies and chronic illness cares. Her most important accomplishment is being “Granny Gwen” for her 2 grandchildren. She also loves nature, working in her garden, and traveling abroad.
