Campus buildings reopen after threat
UTC Campus Police, in response to a phoned-in bomb threat, Tuesday morning evacuated three buildings on our campus: Founders Hall, Race Hall, and the Engineering, Mathematics, and Computer Science Building. Our Campus Police and the Chattanooga Police Department responded and the bomb squad thoroughly scanned the buildings. Nothing suspicious was found and the buildings were reopened later Tuesday morning. Classes and administrative operations have resumed.
This morning's situation is still under police investigation and the University intends to prosecute this felony report of a bomb threat to the fullest extent.
We appreciate your patience and cooperation during this time of stress and confusion. As more information becomes available, it will be shared with the campus community. In light of this week’s events, we are aware of the concern about campus security and will do everything possible to keep the campus safe and informed.May 1, 2007
