Rice, Prevost named to UT Board
Dr. Richard Rice, UTC faculty senate president, and Amy N. Prevost, senior marketing student and Student Government Association President, have been named by Governor Phil Bredesen to the University of Tennessee Board of Trustees.
Bredesen announced the appointment of 10 Tennesseans to fill vacancies on the Tennessee Board of Regents, University of Tennessee Board of Trustees and the Tennessee Student Assistance Corporation.
Dr. Richard RiceRice, a history professor at UTC since 1981, is a member
and former president of the Southeast Conference/Association for Asian Studies,
the Association for Asian Studies, and the Society for the History of Technology.
Rice earned a bachelor’s
degree in history from Portland State University, Portland, a master’s
degree in history from University of Illinois and a doctoral degree in history
and East Asian Languages from Harvard University. He has been the recipient
of several Fulbright grants and participated in the National Endowment for
the Humanities Summer Seminar on "Human Rights in an Age of Globalization" at
Columbia University. Rice is appointed to a one-year term to the UT Board of
Trustees.
Amy PrevostPrevost has previously served on the UT Board of Trustees Outreach
Committee and the Vice Chancellor for Student Development and Dean of Students
Search Committees. Prevost has been the recipient of various honors, including
the UT Chattanooga Leadership Merit Award, National Dean’s List and
Who’s
Who Among American College Students. Prevost’s appointment to the UT
Board of Trustees is a one-year term.
